Maximillian Miguel  Monroy Miller Memorial Fund

On March 15th, 2016 we lost an amazing friend, family member, fraternity brother, mentor, student, educator and colleague. Indeed, while Max was many things to many people, his love for those he came across was his consistent trademark.

In response to the incredible outpouring of thoughts, prayers and love from all who were blessed to have known him, the brothers from the Alpha Beta Chapter of Omega Delta Phi Fraternity, Incorporated, invite you to support the Miller family in covering duly expenses and easing the financial burdens of losing a loved one.

As one of ten founders of the Alpha Beta Chapter at Michigan State University, Max helped build the foundation for what the brotherhood represented at MSU, ultimately impacting many brothers from many different backgrounds. He continued to make an impact even beyond graduation.

While at MSU, Max was known for various creative endeavors. Before graduating with his bachelor’s degree via James Madison in Social Relations with a specialization in Chicano Studies, he became passionate about social justice and equality. That passion would lead Max to education, impacting youth from Texas and California.

In the summer of 2014, Max returned to Michigan and entered the same Chicano Latino Studies PhD Program he fought for as an undergrad at MSU.

Those most recent students, colleagues and academic professionals were just the latest to have been touched by his compassion, laughter, and love. Beginning with those from his hometown in Glen Lake, Max impacted many lives.

If Max has touched your life in any way, please consider contributing in his name, honor, and legacy.

We thank you for every dollar and kind word you share.

A date for Max’s memorials will be decided for some time in Mid May or early June.

Just a few messages from those who loved Max left on his Facebook

Live. Love.

So simple, and yet so profound.

You were a kindred spirit, my brother. You embodied and reflected a positive energy that was contagious, drawing in people from all walks of life like a moth to a flame. Your laughter, your light heartedness, and your ability to listen, reflect, and transform any situation into one of positivity was second to none.

While your physical presence may no longer be with us, know that you will forever live on in the hearts and minds of the thousands of people who you impacted. Your laughter, your smile, your crazy, unapologetic nature, and your peaceful yet powerful spirit will always exist in our memories, and will continue to bring us joy for the remainder of our days.

When my heart can beat no more I hope I die for a principle or a belief that I have lived for.
–Tupac Shakur

You certainly left your legacy for the principle or belief you lived for.  Many whom you inspired will love, live and tackle injustices.

We salute you as Dr. Monroy-Miller. You deserve the honorary doctorate degree, scholarship and much more.

It has certainly been a privilege.

We love you, bro. You brought joy to many and accomplished a level of love and brotherhood we’ll strive to achieve for a long time.

What a remarkable legacy you leave us with.

Maximillian, you truly were one in a million.

Resto en el cielo, Sir Sabroso.
