Help Max the Moluccan Support Greta’s Roost Parrot Rescue!

Max the Moluccan is doing a special fundraiser for our friends at Greta’s Roost, a dedicated parrot rescue society in Southern Alberta. Greta’s Roost is a volunteer-run organization that helps parrots find loving new homes, but with so many birds in need of rehoming, the costs keep adding up. From food and toys to vet care and proper housing, running a rescue is a huge undertaking, and right now, Greta’s needs our help!

About Greta’s Roost

Greta’s Roost is a volunteer-run, foster-based parrot rescue located in Southern Alberta. They focus on education, support, fostering, and adoption to help parrots in need find safe and loving homes. Their dedicated team works tirelessly to provide care and rehabilitation for surrendered and rescued birds, ensuring they receive the attention and enrichment they need. By promoting responsible parrot ownership and providing educational resources to the community, Greta’s Roost plays an ongoing vital role in improving the lives of parrots and their caretakers.

Why Parrots Need Rescues

Parrots are intelligent, social, and long-lived companions, but they also require specialized care, attention, and enrichment. Unfortunately, many parrots end up in rescues due to changes in their owners’ circumstances, behavioral challenges, or simply because people underestimate the commitment involved in caring for such complex animals. Some birds are surrendered when their owners can no longer care for them, while others are rehomed when people are unable to manage them, or are rescued from neglectful situations. Rescues like Greta’s Roost step in to provide these birds with the second chances they deserve.

Why This Fundraiser Matters

One of the biggest challenges rescues face is providing suitable cages-especially for larger birds. Many parrots arrive in cages that are too small, unsafe, or in poor condition (see photos). To ensure these birds have a clean, comfortable, and appropriate space, we are raising $10,000 to help Greta’s Roost bring in a pallet of ten extra large high-quality cages.

Our friends at Parrot Trends have offered to help us secure these cages at discounted cost, making every dollar stretch further for the rescue. Any extra funds will go towards supporting the birds at the Greta's Roost. This means your donation will have a direct and meaningful impact on the wellbeing of these birds.
