Max isn’t just any horse—he’s a beloved Clydesdale who serves as a patrol horse for the Sheriff’s Office, bringing joy to our community at events like Bills games and the convention center. But before Max was the strong, proud horse you know, he was a rescue in desperate need of help.

Mary Ann and Mark Warner took Max in when he was in terrible condition—underweight, suffering from severe canker in two hooves, and in constant pain. Over the past year, they have poured their hearts, time, and every resource they have into saving him. Mark, in particular, spent nearly every day outside—through blistering heat, freezing cold, pouring rain, and brutal winds—personally treating Max’s feet. No matter how exhausting or difficult it got, he never gave up on him.

Through relentless treatments—four days a week in all weather conditions—and over $25,000 in vet bills, they have given Max a second chance at life.

The good news? Max is finally on the mend! But the financial burden has been overwhelming, and the well has run dry. The Warners would never ask for help themselves, but we can step up for them—just as they stepped up for Max when he needed them most.
