Update 3/7/2021
Max is in need of a new wheelchair, we need your help!
Max has not been able to walk for a few years now. We had purchased a gently used wheelchair when we learned he was having issues walking on his own. That wheelchair has since broke, and he is in need of a new one. I want to continue to keep him happy and comfortable, but I am asking for your help to do so. He is still super spunky and has the will to keep pushing.
Donations ($1,700) made 4 years ago have paid for his medical bills and therapy. Thank you.

2/27 Update
Max had his first physical therapy appointment and it was successful, they would like to continue to work with him to get his range of motion back. Our goal is for him to go back to going on hikes and morning jogs but to be able to do this he will need many more trips to the Canine Rehabilitation Center. Every trip will be around $100-$150 in fees. Currently we are booked every other week due to costs.
He deserves nothing but the best!
------------------------------------------------
On Christmas Eve around 7pm we were notified that our 55lb Boxer/Shepard mix Max had managed to escape from our backyard (which is very unlike him). He was hit by a car on our street. If you are familiar with Livermore you would know that the street by Livermore farm and feed gets a lot of traffic and even with a posted speed limit of 25mph you will find that majority of people clock in at a much faster rate. I don't know if by chance that these people were at the right place at the right time but they are the reason why I was able to get to him in time. They let me know that my dog got out and was hit by a car. My dad and I were able to get him to Sage Emergency Veterinary Hospital as quickly as possible. Where he stayed over the Christmas weekend, under their 24/7 round the clock care.
Max has made many friends throughout his life. From students at vet tech school to doggie day care counselors. If you had the opportunity to know Max personally you would agree that he's a big cuddle bug and loves to play fetch (retuning the ball is a different story) He is a big sweet heart who loves to show off his tricks for a treat. I know I might be a little biased but he's the best! I promise you he will wiggle his way into your heart.
According to the Vet he will definitely need surgery, his pelvic bone is fractured where the ball meets the socket. The specialist determined that a femoral head osteotomey or amputation would be our only choices for his recovery. I was approved for care credit but I'm afraid his surgery will require more than what I can provide. I can only ask for you to keep us in your prayers and thoughts for a speedy and successful recovery, but if you could spare some change to help Max it would be greatly appreciated and your help will not go unnoticed. Please share Max's story. Every little bit counts. Many thanks!
