Hi my name is Melissa and I am fundraising for my cat Max. Max is very special to me, he is a part of my heart. He was with me in times of my life no one else was. He is my shadow and follows me around the house and is always on my lap. He also is very loved by many online. Max has had chronic sinusitis all his life. It was under control on medication until this year. We had tried all medicines possible and nothing was helping. He was having daily sneezing and coughing on mucous fits. We figured it was time to finally get an expensive CT scan of his head, do a sinus flush and biopsy anything they might find while they are in there. This was supposed to be an in and out procedure. I was supposed to be able to take him home the same night. Well they told us he needed to stay overnight to watch for bleeding. Everything was going okay until he started to crash. His nose was bleeding down into his body and he lost a significant amount of blood. This was very unusual and our doctor said this hasn’t happened in her eleven years of doing this. They had to give him a blood transfusion. They started to suspect perhaps he has a rare blood clotting disorder. So then they added on giving him plasma to help his blood clot. His blood pressure and PCV is finally stabilized. We got to visit him Saturday and he looked pretty awful, but they told us this was an improvement from the night before and he was also exhausted from being constantly checked for all the monitoring. Sunday since he is now stable he was able to be given pain medicine and an appetite stimulant. He still
hasnt eaten but they said it could take a day for the medicine to kick in. They said he is starting to get a little spunk back because he is now fighting them for treatments. Max has always been a very wiggly guy at the vet. Right now what we need most is for Max to eat. Because his nose is swollen and the source for bleeding he cannot have a feeding tube in his nose. So I don’t know what our next steps would be and how far we should go for treatment. Right now he seems to be fighting and wanting to get better. So we will fight along side him unless he lets us know he is ready to go. The doctor thinks we should still try at this point. The barrier comes with the high cost of this treatment. We had planned on the high cost of a CT scan and biopsy, but not for a blood transfusion, platelets, many blood pressure checks, pcv checks, and the four days of hospitalization. Thank you to everyone who has already wished him well. And thank you to everyone for your support.
