Urgent Aid Needed for Earthquake Victims

Donation protected
Dear friends,

I know we all get asked to donate to causes all the time—and maybe it feels like there’s always another crisis. But if you could take a moment to pause and even just read this message, it would really be appreciated.

A devastating earthquake struck Myanmar on Sunday. Entire villages have been reduced to rubble. Thousands are dead, injured, displaced, or still missing.

Many good people are doing what they can to help, but the challenges are enormous. Roads are blocked, communication is limited, and resources are scarce. Relief is desperately needed. International aid has been slow, and organized rescue efforts are struggling to reach the people who need it most.

I’m in contact with my friend, ZK Thway, who is on the ground in Myanmar. Thway is doing what he can to help and is working with others to coordinate support, but needs urgent help to get even the most basic supplies into the hands of displaced families.

They’re trying to provide:

  • Food and clean water
  • Mosquito nets
  • Tarpaulins and materials for temporary shelter
  • First aid kits and life-saving medical supplies

Thway works with a trusted grassroots organization (AFFM) that supports small farmers, agricultural workers, and ethnic minority communities—people who have long been marginalized and now face the greatest hardship in this disaster.

Myanmar’s military government has refused aid access to many of these areas—the same regions devastated by the earthquake.

Why This Matters

Thway is part of a network of labor organizers and local leaders who have supported vulnerable communities in Myanmar for years. Every donation goes directly to them, and they will use it to buy essential supplies in Yangon, where materials are still available, and personally bring them to families in need.

This is direct aid—no red tape, no overhead—just people helping people.

A Little Background

Since the military coup in 2021, Myanmar has been locked in a violent civil war. The junta continues to target ethnic minority areas and opposition groups with brutal force. After the earthquake, the opposition National Unity Government (NUG) called for a ceasefire to allow humanitarian relief. But the military has ignored this, and violence continues—even in disaster zones.

How You Can Help

I know everyone has a lot going on. But if you're able to give—even a little—it could make a big difference. Every bit of support means the world. ❤️

Please consider donating—even a small amount can make a huge difference. If you can’t donate, please share this page.

If you have any questions or want to know more, I’m happy to share updates from Thway and the people they are helping. Just reach out to me directly.

Thank you for reading. Thank you for caring. And thank you for helping.

With deep gratitude,
Lan
