Mavis is the happiest, most energetic 9 year old dog out there. I consistently meet people who somehow know her before knowing me. She leaves a positive impression on every single person she has come across and even changed the opinions of those who have had a negative view on the pit bull breed.

In October 2024, I took her to the park with a friend and her dog and she played the way she always does; lots of energy and the zoomies. Unfortunately, the age of 9 caught up to her as the day ended with her limping on her back leg.

The first visit to the vet lead to an arthritis diagnosis. Pain meds were given, supplements were recommended, and weeks went by with no change. The second visit lead to the same answers, arthritis. While this does fit her age, it didn’t seem to match what I was seeing.

As of last week, her limping worsened to the point of putting no weight on her back leg. She preferred laying down and I had to carry her outside to potty. Many that know Mavis will understand this is unlike her.

A third trip to the vet lead to an x-ray. She has a torn ACL that can only be fixed through a very expensive surgery.

Please let the positivity she has shed on this world shine back on her through this process. Every penny will go towards making sure she walks on all 4 paws once again!
