UPDATE: Okay, friends. We are at the point where we need to decide whether to proceed with additional surgery to remove the remaining lesions (5, estimated cost $1200), or have her boarded at the vet's office for several weeks to be monitored and treated until the lesions go away (more expensive and longer recovery). We are opting to go with the surgery, which will speed up her recovey time. I am BEGGING for help with this. Right now, we are just over $1,800 spent in vet visits, diagnostics, biopsy and pathology and meds for treatment, not to mention the supplies needed for the foster's home. Please continue to SHARE this fundraiser. Every little bit helps! Thank you to all who have contributed so far.
Ruf Creek Ranch Rescue is a small rescue located in Smithfield, NC. We have changed our focus from adopting out puppies and young, healthy dogs to helping the seniors and medically challenged ones. We have an issue, and need your help. Mavis is a 9-month old Corgi/Jack Russell mix recently pulled from a local shelter. A day later, her foster noticed lesions over her legs and ears. The vets are baffled and cultures show the presence of bacteria, but not what is causing the overall condition. The lesions have spread to her head, and are extremely itchy. We have already expended over $500.00 in diagnostics, and the vets (we have consulted with several - all have the same opinion) want to do a biopsy and deep culture IMMEDIATELY, since they fear it is a highly contagious infection. Estimated cost for the biopsy/pathology/culture and treatments is between $1,500 and $2,000. We cannot afford to wait for the biopsy/surgery/culture, etc. since the foster has another dog in the household, and Mavis' lesions appear to be spreading. Please consider contributing to her care. She is a sweet, happy go lucky puppy who needs to be taken care of. No amount is too small. Thank you for your consideration, and Please SHARE this fundraiser.
