My name is Melissa Munné, and I am the proud sister of Maverick Munné – the reason I am starting this fund.

Maverick has been diagnosed with Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC), which has led to two major surgeries and a life shadowed by epilepsy. In 2010, he was also diagnosed with arrhythmia, which was successfully treated by burning a false node in his heart. Not long after that, he lost coordination to the point where he could no longer move his arms. We rushed him to the hospital for an emergency MRI, which quickly turned into a life-threatening operation due to the immense pressure building in his brain. Through all of this, Maverick was the happiest boy in the children’s intensive care unit.

Maverick has spent most of his childhood in and out of hospitals because of his condition. His education has also taken a toll, with teachers too scared to support his development due to his medical complications. After his surgeries, he became physically exhausted—something the teachers didn’t know how to handle. As a result, he fell further and further behind in school and eventually developed a mild developmental disorder. Fortunately, he was able to get the help he needed and enrolled in special needs education.

He is now 19 years old and about to graduate from a special needs high school. He is a happy guy, always finding the positive in life and each day. But now, I need your help. From a young age, Maverick has found joy in music—especially Electronic Dance Music—looking up to DJs such as Avicii, Tiësto, Martin Garrix, and many more. There is nothing that would make us happier than sending him to a course or school where he can learn music production to its fullest extent.

Unfortunately, Maverick and I have experienced a rough childhood financially. Our father has faced his own serious medical issues and has been unemployed for most of our childhood. He, too, underwent brain tumor surgery, which left him with chronic fatigue. We’ve had to live paycheck to paycheck on our mother’s income. While our father is now medically retired, we are still unable to raise enough money to send Maverick to a music production school—or even a course. Maverick’s joy and dream of becoming a DJ is so strong that we want to do everything we can to raise funds so he can learn music production and pursue his one true dream—becoming a DJ like his heroes.

This fund will help Maverick attend a course held by Svenska DJ Skolan in Ibiza, purchase his first DJ controller, and allow one of us to accompany him to the course to assist him, especially in case of an epileptic seizure.

Outline of funds requested:
* 23,500 SEK for the base course held in Ibiza
* 10,000 SEK for necessary personal assistance
* 16,000 SEK for a DJ controller (as recommended by the Swedish DJ School)

Any contribution is deeply appreciated by us, his family but especially by Maverick himself.
