Maverick’s Life Saving Surgery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kylee and I’m fundraising for my sister’s dog Maverick. Maverick is 3 years old and was recently diagnosed with Idiopathic Chylothorax disease. Any money donated would help pay for Maverick’s vet bills and surgery.
Idiopathic Chylothorax disease is the accumulation of chylous fluid in the thoracic cavity. Maverick has fluid building up in his lungs, causing him to have a hard time breathing. The vet said without surgery he would end up suffocating. The vet has ruled out cancer and heart disease as the cause, therefore the cause is unknown. Every time my sister has the fluid drained, it costs $400. A specialist told my sister last week that Maverick had approximately 2-6 months to live without surgery.
My parents have talked to Colorado State University Animal Hospital (CSU) and they agreed to take Maverick. My family has arranged to get Maverick up to CSU in December, where they will hopefully complete the life saving surgery Maverick needs. The surgery itself could cost anywhere from $8,000-$10,000, or more depending on how long Maverick would need to stay at CSU.
Maverick is the sweetest boy, who might look intimidating, but is like a big teddy bear. Maverick is my sister’s first dog, her baby, and she would be lost without him.
I know we are approaching the holiday season but if you have any extra money to spare to help Maverick and my sister, it would be greatly appreciated.
