Christian “Maverick” Redman – a proud US Army 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment (ACR) – Blackhorse - veteran, is in the final stage of his long battle with colon cancer. Christian has a hope to travel to Key West (“Maverick’s Last Ride”) in his remaining days and to visit his young daughter, Alexis, in Louisville KY enroute to Florida – this ride may be his last opportunity to see her. Christian’s fellow 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment (ACR) troopers are determined to make his dream a reality and we have launched this campaign to help defray the expenses of this ride. Funds donated to this campaign will be deposited directly into Christian’s account.
Christian will be escorted to Florida by First Sergeant (Retired) Ray Simpson, 11th ACR, of Fountain CO and they intend to depart Parker CO on 4 March 2019. They will be joined by members of Blackhorse Regiment Cavalry Motorcycles along the way.
Christian is a 1986 graduate of Ponderosa High School – Parker CO. He entered the US Army immediately following his high school graduation and served as an armored cavalry scout with the 11th ACR patrolling the East-West German border during the Cold War in the late 1980’s. Prior to moving to Parker, he was a police officer in Kentucky for 20 years. Christian was instrumental in helping organize a local fundraiser in 2015 that helped a WWII veteran and his wife who were facing the prospect of running out of money and losing their home. Christian has devoted his life serving his communities and our nation – he deserves our support and encouragement.
There will be a fundraising event to support “Maverick’s Last Ride” at the all-new Takoda Tavern (12365 Pine Bluffs Way Parker CO 80134 – approximately 2 miles south of the intersection of Main Street & Parker Road on the hill above the SE corner of Parker & Hess Road) on Saturday, March 9th from 10:00am to 8:00pm.
Join us in making our friend Christian’s hope a reality!
