Maverick Needs A Doggy Wheelchair

My name is Thao French and I am raising funds for my friend's dog, Maverick who is a very special part of the skateboarding community here in Linda Vista, San Diego, Ca.

Every session at Linda Vista Skatepark, I would see Maverick and Elena skate together. Maverick was a good boy and never got in the way of other skateboarders and he would always run behind Elena as she pushed around the park. These two truly have a unique friendship and it's hard to see Elena's mental health impacted by the possibility that she may lose Maverick as he ages and deals with health issues. For the past couple of weeks, Maverick has been struggling to walk. His hind legs no longer support his lower body and getting around is very difficult for him because he's dragging his legs behind him to get to places. Running around the park with Elena while she skates is no longer possible so this fundraiser is to help Maverick get a doggy wheelchair from K9carts so he can shred hard af around the park.

For the remainder of his life, we are going to try to give Maverick a set of new shiny wheels so he can still roam free, get some pain meds and have the resources to be able to see the vet for check ups.

Ever since I started skateboarding again, Maverick has always kept me company, calling (barking) me out for being a wuss and sitting out every session on the concrete too afraid ad to drop in or try a new trick. He's always been there for me so I'm going to be there for him now. He's a really good boy and I hope with the help of his community, we can help him live out his best life!

Maverick may have Intervertebral Disk Disease (IVDD), Degenerative Myelopathy, or something else. To definitively diagnose that, as I was mentioning, we'd have to do a anesthetized MRI and spinal tap, which they can do at a specialist. But the question is, what can we do about that? Well, surgery may be an option, but that can get pretty pricey. Let me know if you have any other questions.
