Family Dog Needs Hip Surgery After Hit And Run

Maverick is the friendliest most affectionate German shepherd you will ever meet. He is the best friend to our 3yo son and 1yo daughter. We have had him since he was 8 weeks old a little under 4 years ago.

Around 6 o’clock Friday morning, the wind blew our front door open and he got out running down to the main road in Peabody, MA on Washington street.

A car struck him on his left side and never stopped. A neighbor heard his cries and was kind enough to call the police who notified us of the incident.

I brought him to the emergency vet, hoping for the best. I received a call at 10:30am that the extent of his injuries are a broken hip and air around his lung, preventing him from transferring to any other vet surgery center. The cost for the operation could be upwards of $10,000. With two kids and the overall cost of living, this is not something we ever could have imagined would happen.

Not knowing what else to do, I am turning to GoFundMe to ask for help.
