In Memory of Maveric Kim

On August 11th, 2023, at 5:55am, our dear friends Helen and Long welcomed their firstborn son, Maveric Kim. He joined this world at 8 months, weighing 4lbs and measuring 15 inches. After his birth, baby Maveric blessed us all with his presence for 5 hours. Those 5 hours were the most perfect, blissful, and loving period the Kim family could have hoped for. From the moment Maveric was in Mommy's belly, Mommy knew he would be special. Maveric was Helen and Long's heart warrior. He chose his own path and his journey, although brief, will leave an everlasting impression. His battle with HLHS (Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome) showed his strength and perseverance. The truest definition of a fighter. And fight he did.

As surreal as this is, we find ourselves creating this gofundme in support of our friends. This is indeed a truly difficult time, and any words found to try and share Maveric's story do not seem to entirely capture all the feelings the Kim family is going through. This time of grief and tragedy is something that is unimaginable. No parents can prepare for this. So it is our hope that if you are reading this, and are moved to make any donation of any amount it would be much appreciated. All funds raised will go to Helen and Long to help with the costs of medical and funeral services.
