Mauro Monaco's road to recovery.

Welcome to the fundraising page for my best friends Eva and Mauro Monaco. My name is Maria and I have been best friends with Eva since we were 7 years old. I have created this page to support Mauro on his road to recovery after being diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. As most of you know Mauro was recently hospitalized for more than a week where he under went major surgery to remove a mass that obstructed in his intestines which we thought was his Crohns disease acting up.  After 3 hospitals, mri's, catscans, colonoscopy, tubes of blood work, and surgery that lasted 5 hours which was only supposed to run about 3 hours doctors diagnosed Mauro with stage 4 colon cancer which has spread from his intestines to his liver and now gallbladder. In the next month or so Mauro will begin his road to recovery. He is expected to complete 9 sessions of chemotherapy. After treatment is over Mauro will have to repeat all scans again to see if the chemo was a success. As we all know this will be financially difficult with rent, medical and monthly usual bills. This fundraiser has been organized to help remove some of the financial burden for Mauro and Eva during this diffucult time when his main focus needs to be on healing. If you are able to donate in any way at any time it would be much appreciated by their family and friends. We sit and wonder why these unfourtunate things happen to good people. Mauro has a heart of gold and always sees the good in everyone but most importantly he makes my best friend happy. His whole outlook on life is to enjoy everyday with nothing but positivity, love, and adventure. He loves to be surrounded by his family and friends creating nothing but beautiful memories. Mauro appreciates the little and simple things in life . Mauro and Eva were at the point where they wanted to take the next step and start a family. They have so much love for eachother that up until this point they were ready to share this love with a baby. Please help Mauro on his road to recovery so he can beat this disease that is called cancer.  We have nothing but positive thoughts and high spirits.  Let us help Mauro and Eva so that they can get passed this bump in the road and begin a new chapter in their life of becoming parents. With the help of God, the power of prayer, and the love and support from his family and friends we can watch Mauro and Eva 's family grow but most of all watching Mauro fight the fight of his life and tell this cancer to take a hike!
