Maurico Grijalva Family Medical Battle
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
My name is Alyssa Grijalva and I come from a loving family of 8. My father Mauricio Grijalva is a caring, loving, hard working man. He is one of the reasons I'm the person I am today. I learned so much from him and he always puts individuals before himself in which he did with us. Coming from Compton, CA has been a struggle growing up we struggle with money trying to pay for house bills and he did everything he could to maintain us. He hardly went to the Doctor because he would spend the only money we had on our mom and us.
On March 2nd, I was at my college apartment in Fort Collins, CO sleeping when I received a face time from my 17 year old sister at 1:20am screaming that my dad was not breathing and that he would not open his eyes. I was in shock and had no idea what I could have done but once I heard my mom through the phone screaming to my dad not to leave her or our family I broke down in tears in my apartment and started screaming for my dad not to leave me. My room mate was such a great friend and bought me a ticket and drove me straight to the airport. It was the longest plane ride of my life. Once I got to the hospital I saw my mom in so much pain and I hugged her and the nurses said that my father went into cardiac arrest. He was in a coma for three days in which the doctors wanted him to rest his brain because he was dead for 30 minutes and did not receive oxygen to his brain. It was the hardest most longest week of my life and I have been here for my dad and my family every step of the way. He gained consciousness and now is in road to recovery. He has slight brain damage and many of his organs were affected when he went into cardiac arrest causing them to be in severe shock. He has been receiving so many medications and procedures to help him get better. My older brothers and I now have to step up for the family. We are going to do all we can to help support our mother, our father (who is now unable to work), and our three younger siblings.
No one ever thinks this will happen but life just throws unexpected things your way. We have really appreciated all the support that everyone around us has given us. If you could please support my GoFundMe and my family by making a donation so we could be able to handle the medical bills and help get the medications needed for my father that would be greatly appreciated.
