It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of my dad, Mauricio Gerard Mankewitz, earlier this week. His passing has left a hole in our hearts, and we are faced with the challenging task of honoring his memory with a fitting farewell.
Everyone who knew Mauricio would recognize his unwavering love for the brighter side of life. Even through years of spine pain, immobility, and heart issues, he never set his hammer aside; he was constantly building a better future for our family. In 2015, we fulfilled a 20-year dream to return to Chile so that he could live a stress-free life overlooking the ocean in his home country.
There, he extended his generosity and worked to create an inviting space for the public on our land so that he could share the beauty of Punta de Lobos.
After struggling with heart issues over the past five years, my dad took a sudden turn for the worse and passed away on Monday morning October 16, 2023.
Losing a loved one is emotionally challenging, especially at a distance. In addition to our grief, we are also faced with the financial burden of arranging a proper farewell for my dad. My family and I are struggling to cover the medical, funeral, travel, and legal expenses.

This is where we need your support. We have created this GoFundMe campaign with the hope that friends, family, and kind-hearted individuals might be willing to help us during this difficult time. Unfortunately this is urgent - we have to pay the hospital by November 15th, 2024.
If you're unable to contribute financially, we understand. Your warm thoughts and fond memories of my dad are just as valuable. If you can share this campaign with your network, you'll help us reach even more hearts that may be willing to help.
Thank you for being part of our journey, and for helping us celebrate the wonderful man my dad was.
