Maureen’s Stroke Recovery

My name is Maureen, I recently suffered a stroke on November 13, 2024 at home in Arizona. My husband, Gordon, called 911, where I was transported to Honor Health Thompson Peak. They performed a MRI which confirmed that a stroke occurred, immobilizing the right side of my body. After 21 days in the Encompass Rehabilitation Center, I am now at home. I will begin Physical and Occupational Therapy at home for approximately 4-6 weeks, then Outpatient Therapy starts lasting 6-9 months. Because my husband travels for business and is away from home half of each month and with no family living nearby we will be relying heavily on a professional caregiver. Examples: Cooking Meals, Going to Bathroom, Showering, getting up and out of my wheelchair, etc. The out of pocket cost is $30-35 per hour. With many days and hours ahead, the total cost is pretty scary. This is why I am reaching out to our community to help us raise funds for my recovery costs. I have already made positive progress in my recovery but there is a long journey ahead. Any support, whether it’s a donation or just sharing our GoFundMe information, means the world to us.
