Maui Wildfire Recovery Assistance

My name is Amber Lightfoot. I'm a 68-year-old disabled author facing some traumatic times due to the horrific Maui Wildfires. For more than 15 years, Maui has been my home. I'm reaching out to you for assistance because I believe in the power of community, and I'm hoping you can assist me to overcome the challenges this unprecedented crisis has thrown my way.

Living on a small fixed disability income, life had been quite a journey for me. Recently, I've been greatly impacted by the fires on Maui, which has made things even more difficult. Yet, I'm determined to keep pushing forward and maintain a positive outlook.

I've set up this GoFundMe campaign because I need your help with some essential things that are crucial for my health and well-being during this crisis. I'm in need of air filters to ensure I have clean and purified air to breathe. Additionally, water filters are essential for me to have access to clean drinking water from my Berkey water purifiers, and a Berkey shower head purchase would make a significant difference in my daily life and contribute to my overall well-being.

Whereas I don't own a car, transportation to medical facilities is a challenge for me, and your support would mean the world. Your donations will help cover the costs of transportation via Uber to medical appointments, enabling me to prioritize my health without worry.

I am currently experiencing extreme PTSD, a severe non-stop headache since August 8th, stomach pain and loss of appetite, body aches, breathing issues without my inhaler; or the ability to replace the prescriptions for my heart medication - as the nearby clinic has been closed since the morning after the fire.

Lastly, future utility expenses are a concern, with the necessity to run air conditioning and an air purifier constantly due to toxic air quality. Your assistance in covering them would alleviate a significant financial burden, and relieve additional stress for me. This would allow me to focus on my health and my passion for writing without the constant stress of financial constraints.

Meditation has been my solace, and I believe it's important for my mental well-being. Your contribution would allow me to continue practicing meditation, finding moments of peace and tranquility amid this disaster of epic proportions.
