Our names are Natalie Moning and Kristina Benbow. We are pharmacy students completing our fourth-year rotations in Lahaina, Hawaii during the month of August 2023. We were very graciously given the opportunity to stay in the guest house of the Robusto family during this month. They have been cherished residents of the town of Lahaina, serving their community in the pharmacy for over 46 years before recently retiring. Their humor, compassion for those around them, and selflessness has driven friends, neighbors, and anyone who has come in contact with them to form indescribable friendships.

On August 8th, as a result of severe winds from Hurricane Dora, the town of Lahaina, Hawaii caught fire. This fire spread rapidly and intensely, burning everything in its path. Businesses, parks, vehicles, homes, personal belongings, and restaurants have been demolished across the entire town of Lahaina in a scene described as "apocalyptic." It is an understatement to say we owe our lives to the Robusto family, who aided in our evacuation to safety from the rapidly approaching fire. Unfortunately, they have lost their home of 20+ years and everything in it - in addition to the emotional distress and burden of the fire that has taken everything from them. While we can see this as an opportunity for their community to come together as Lahaina, Hawaii is rebuilt in the future, the financial burden of this disaster cannot be overlooked. It is with extremely heavy hearts that we aim to raise money to assist the Robusto family during this time, who are stronger beyond words can describe and to whom we owe our lives. Any monetary value you can give is going to aid in anything from basic essentials they lost (hygiene products, clothes, food) to the rebuilding of their home.
