I lived on Maui for many years and have many dear friends whos lives have changed forever due to the devastating fires in Lahaina.

One of my dearest friends, Kristy Taylor, is a talented photographer who lived in lahaina. Her and her partner Hans’ house, like many, was burnt to the ground and they lost everything. Despite their own magnificent loss, they are still out trying to help everyone around them right now.

Kristy is the kind of person who thinks of and supports others before herself, always bringing a smile to your face because you always feel supported and prioritized around her.

Kristy isn't the type to ask for help, she is fiercely independent and resourceful. I know she and Hans will rise out of these ashes eventually, but not without a challenging road ahead... I desperately want to help support them in all the ways I can from afar, as they would, and are doing, to help others around them who are in need.

Kristy has endless positivity that is contagious and exactly what the world needs. I love and deeply respect her for all she is and brings to this world, and this fundraiser is to just offer a place for anyone looking for some of the real life human beings who were deeply affected by these tragic fires to help support through this extraordinarily challenging situation.

GoFundMe suggests to offer ideas on how the funds might be used - I honestly can't begin to offer any insight to this. I would say to begin rebuilding starts with basic survival - food, water, clothes... eventually I hope they can rebuild to tell stories and explore the world again. But right now it's just about survival. I would say the use of funds starts there. If I know anything about Kristy and Hans, they could quite possibly use it to help others around them before themselves, though.
