Maui Fire loss of income
Donation protected
This is my daughter's story...
Aloha,
I moved to this paradise one year ago for a better quality of life, which has been a major blessing!
However, the recent fire has resulted in a loss of income for myself for the foreseeable future. I was the Assistant Store Manager at Johnny Was in Whaler's Village in Ka'anapali, which is now closed indefinitely.
I live in Honokowai on the West Side of Maui, about 2 miles north of the devastation. I love my condo community and everyone has pulled together in a true Aloha spirit.
I am blessed to still have my home. However, my landlord has stated there will be no reduction in rent despite the loss of income.
I am now facing losing my housing because of financial loss, not fire loss. This continues to be devastating.
Anything you can give to help me stay in my home would be much appreciated. The funds will be used to pay rent and utilities for a couple of months until West Maui is able to reopen for tourism.
I love this island and the people, and I would love to stay and support the rebuilding of it...
