Maui Mom Fighting an Emotional Battle with Cancer

Aloha kākou,

Please help a local Maui Mom, Siu Ako (Tolutau) Sharits, who recently lost her husband, Kenneth Sharits, to his cancer battle. Siu is currently battling a fight of her own with Breast Cancer.

Siu is now a single parent of two children; the oldest son, Sekope, aka Jacob, age 17, has had to take on parental duties as the caregiver for his mom while she is undergoing debilitating chemotherapy. Jacob has also ensured his younger brother Milieti; age 11 can continue participating in healthy structured activities outside the home. In addition, both boys have returned to school to continue their childhood education.

With the help of family, friends and church members, Jacob coordinates and facilitates daily duties for his Mom that she can no longer do alone.

Siu has always been a hard worker, often working two jobs to make ends meet in addition to making her beautiful lei and haku for blessings, weddings, and other services.

Siu has never complained and is very humble, though we all know she is facing basic living expenses and mounting medical costs. At the same time, she is currently unable to work while receiving chemotherapy treatments.

With a positive outlook, Siu has put her faith and trust in God that she will overcome her battle with cancer and survive to raise her boys.

Prayers are first and foremost. PLEASE help lessen this beautiful Maui Mom financial stress and challenge in her cancer fight.
