I'm Jilly and am (finally!) running the London Marathon on 2nd October 2022. My Mum always asked me to run this marathon and I didn't. A decision I will always regret ..... then through our local volunteering group I won a place in the 2020 ballot! Unfortunately, with covid, the marathon was delayed/cancelled several times and then I broke my arm in training last year.
My Mum was a keen animal lover and passed this passion onto me. Sadly, so many animals do not get the happy lives we would hope, and they cannot speak up for themselves.
I have known Orpington Cat Rescue for many years, and they are a very deserving charity. They are a small charity and so extremely kind and caring. They devote their lives to looking after, and rehoming cats. I feel I have let them down badly, promising them much needed funds in April 2020 and here we are, the latter part of 2022.
Please dig deep and help us to help these poor animals who go through such trauma through no fault of their own.

Beauty, in this photo, is our rescue cat. She came to us at 11 after being abandoned to the streets. She has one eye and perfect in every way. I hope her last 5 years with us have been happier.
I’m investing huge amounts of time training, to get myself marathon ready. When you work full-time and beyond, this is going to be very early mornings and late nights. Every run I do I will be thinking about these cats, and I know it will keep me focussed.
All you have to do is click and donate.
I will keep you updated, and thank you so, so much.
