Matyseck Emergency Relief Fund
Donation protected
Mary Matyseck, beloved Design Fundamentals and Color Theory teacher at ArtCenter College of Design, lost all of her possessions in a three-alarm apartment fire in the early morning hours of September 9, 2020. Mary had just retired from her full-time position and was looking forward to her emeritus role, planning to teach one or two classes a year before moving to Oregon to be closer to her grandchildren.
Mary lost all of her art and design memorabilia, which she began collecting decades ago when she lived in Germany with her husband, a U.S. Airforce career MSgt, who was stationed there for five years. After returning to the United States, she began teaching at ArtCenter in 1990 already an experienced educator, having taught at Cal State LA and Victor Valley Community College. She has educated generations of artists and designers but now has lost all of her own art and design supplies and her computer in addition to furniture, her wardrobe, and worst of all, her dog.
While we cannot replace her unique personal objects and the memories they hold, won’t you help Mary get back on her feet with a small donation so she can reestablish her design studio supplies and continue the practice she loves in her retirement?
