Hi, my name is Lucy.
In October 2025, our lives changed forever when we suddenly lost my partner, Matty Fellows — a truly incredible man and a devoted father to our twin boys, Rían and Roman, and his daughter, Keira.
Matty brought light into so many lives with his kindness, strength, and big-hearted personality. Even through his own battles, he had a way of lifting everyone around him — making people smile, laugh, and feel seen. He was larger than life, and his presence is deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
As a family, we are now hoping to raise funds for one final, meaningful tribute — a headstone for Matty’s resting place. This will give me, our children, and all of Matty’s family and friends a place to visit, reflect, and remember the amazing man he was for many years to come.
On 10th May, I will be taking on an 8-mile hike through the Peak District alongside Matty’s family and friends in his honour. This is not only to help raise funds, but to celebrate his life, his strength, and the love he gave so freely. We are incredibly proud of his journey in sobriety — his achievements, his struggles, and his determination to change for himself and for his family. That strength and vulnerability will always be honoured.
I am also incredibly proud to be joining forces with HIKE2HEAL RECOVERY CIC a UK-based community supporting mental health, addiction recovery, and personal healing through nature. Founded by Liz Turner, HIKE2HEAL creates a safe and supportive space through guided hikes and cold water dipping, helping people find connection, strength, and peace in the outdoors.
This cause is deeply personal to both myself and Matty. They supported us through his sobriety journey with nothing but kindness, encouragement, and understanding. The work they do for individuals and families affected by addiction is truly incredible and deserves recognition.
This is more than just a fundraiser.
It’s about raising awareness of the devastating impact addiction can have — not only on the individual, but on partners, children, families, and friends. It’s a reality so many people live through silently, and one that deserves far more compassion, understanding, and support. Our family is just one of many who have been affected by the harsh reality of addiction, and it’s something that needs to be spoken about more openly.
Everything we are doing is in Matty’s honour — to remember him, to continue his legacy, and to support others who may be walking a similar path.
I also want to take a moment to say how truly grateful I am to everyone who has supported me and Matty’s children through this heartbreaking loss. The love, kindness, and strength you have shown us has meant more than words could ever express. It’s something I will carry in my heart forever.
Because of your support, we were able to give Matty the send-off he deserved and fulfil his final wish of a burial. For that, I want to say a heartfelt thank you to every single person who helped — it will never be forgotten.
Thank you for supporting us in giving Matty the tribute he deserves, and for standing beside us through everything.
With all my love and gratitude,
Lucy
