It's been said that a mother holds her son's hand for a while but holds his heart forever. I have been blessed to see my son grow, marry his high school sweetheart, have 2 beautiful girls (one 10 and the other 15 months old), work and go to college full time . Matthew began feeling sick, but thought it was nothing serious.  At 36 he was feeling on top of the world, and just about to finish school when he collapsed in front of his family, and was rushed to the ER. He was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Failure, which requires treatment 3 days a week, 4 and half hours at a time to keep him alive. Earlier this month, 14 months after the collapse, the doctors say his only option is a kidney transplant, and his best option is a living donor. Hospital bills, treatment, medication, co-pays and now a transplant has overwhelmed us all. We are praying for a donor and saving grace for Matthew and our family. Here Matt reflects one year after the collapse:
"Sitting here at the treatment center on the one year anniversary of the day I was diagnosed with end stage renal failure and began treatment. Looking back, it was the worst day of my life which turned into the worst two weeks of my life stuck in the hospital being poked and prodded. It's been a difficult year, but truth be told as hard as it was and has been, I am grateful. Grateful God brought this to my attention before something worse happened. I look forward to the end of this battle, and I know I will be stronger for having gone through it.

Romans 5:3-5 Says:
More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us."
