Matt’s Aortic Valve Replacement
Hi, I’m Brittany Miller, the wife of Matt Miller. We have had a great 7.5 years together. We have made a family with our two young sons, Hunter (6.5) and Ryder (5 on July 8th,) plus our 2 cats and our puppy, Snowflake. Matt started up his lawncare and snowplow business last year and since then it has been booming. Unfortunately, Matt got sick at the end of May with what they thought was Pneumonia but the antibiotics didn’t work and the inhaler wasn’t either. Slowly he was having a harder time to breathe and get his job done. This never stopped him from working or helping anyone else in his extra time . Whenever a friend called needing help he was their man. Unfortunately, his breathing was so bad I made him go to the ER and our world turned upside down on June 27th at 9:30pm.
Matt was admitted to RF Hospital immediately and given an EKG, CT with dye, blood tests and just a simple blood pressure test. The results came back with heart failure and our world stopped. He was taken to United Hospital by Ambulance and admitted. Over the next two days he was given numerous tests - EKGs, CTs, Echocardiograms, blood test, breathing test and simple ultrasounds. The conclusions all equaled Heart Failure. When he was a baby he had a heart murmur the doctors dismissed saying he would outgrow it. Unfortunately, he did not. Matt’s heart was working at 15% when he was brought to the hospital and when he was discharged it went to 35%. His Aortic Valve needs to be replaced, which means an open heart surgery. For this to happen to someone that is 32 years old is very rare, and to Matt who has a family who he supports is very scary to say the least.
Once the surgery is performed, Matt will be out of work for 12-16 weeks. His business income along with his full time employment at auto value will be lost and the income I have will not support the family. The one phrase Matt refuses to say is “We need help,” but, unfortunately it’s a phrase we have to ask. We need help during this hard time to help us get through this tough time and keep us going. This will help us pay our utilities, insurance, childcare and other medical bills that arise during this hard time. Anything would really help our little family out. We appreciate anything.
