Matt’s Toughest Climb Yet - Hope for the Wilson Family

Dear Family, Friends, and Supporters,

If you’re lucky enough to know Matthew Wilson, you already know the kind of man he is. Maybe you know him as Michelle’s loving husband, the proud and playful dad to baby Mira, or Mabel’s favorite human. Or maybe you know him as a U.S. Navy Veteran who served with quiet strength, a dedicated CrossFit coach and athlete, a master in the kitchen, a calm and patient fisherman, a fearless backpacker, or the kind of friend who would drop everything to help someone—no questions asked.

However you know Matt, you know this: he shows up. With humility, heart, and hands ready to help. He is steady, selfless, and strong.

Now, he needs us to show up for him.

On June 20, 2025, Matt was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML)—an aggressive and life-threatening form of blood cancer. In a single moment, life as they knew it changed completely. One day he was coaching at the gym and playing with Mira on the floor. The next, he was in a hospital bed, facing months of intensive treatment and unimaginable uncertainty.

He is currently undergoing aggressive chemotherapy and will remain hospitalized for at least six weeks. But this is only the beginning. His care team anticipates a long and difficult road ahead—likely 12 to 18 months of treatment, repeated hospital stays, and a full stop on everything that once defined his active, giving, loving and purposeful life.

Michelle—an incredible Nurse Practitioner, wife, mother, sister, and friend—has stepped away from work to be Matt’s full-time caregiver and Mira’s full-time anchor. Their daughter just turned one. She deserves a world of stability and love, and Michelle is doing everything in her power to give her that, while also holding up the weight of fear, exhaustion, and the unknown.

We’re reaching out now because we know how deeply Matt is loved. We know how many lives he’s touched. And we know this: he would never ask for help—ever—but he deserves it.
