In 2026 I will climb Mount Kilimanjaro carrying some of my Dad's ashes to the summit and I'm asking for your help to make this journey possible.
At the end of July this year I will be attempting one of the biggest challenges of my life climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa at 5,895m.
This expedition will take months of training and preparation, and significant costs including travel, expedition support, equipment and guides.
This page has been set up for people who would like to sponsor me to help make this challenge possible.
By helping me reach that summit, you’re not just supporting a climb, you’re supporting a mission that means a huge amount to me.
Why This Climb Means So Much?
Mental health awareness has become incredibly important in my life since losing my dad to suicide.
There isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t think about him.
When I reach the summit of Kilimanjaro, I will be carrying a small amount of my dad’s ashes with me and leaving them at the top of the mountain.
It will be a moment for me to honour him and everything he meant to me and my family.
The climb is something deeply personal, but it’s also something I want to use to raise awareness and support for mental health.
Supporting Mental Health
Over the past three years, through endurance challenges, races and fundraising events, we have already raised just over £17,000 (including Gift Aid) for Birmingham Mind.
That support has helped contribute to the incredible work they do supporting people struggling with their mental health across our communities.
This climb is the next chapter of that journey.
By sponsoring the expedition, you’re helping make this challenge possible and enabling me to continue raising awareness and further funds for Birmingham Mind.
The Challenge
Climbing Kilimanjaro means:
• Trekking to 5,895m above sea level
• Battling altitude and extreme fatigue
• Several days trekking through changing climates and terrain
• Months of preparation and training beforehand
I will also be completing the climb alongside endurance adventurer Mitch Hutchcraft, which will make this an incredible and inspiring expedition.
How Your Support Helps
Your sponsorship will help cover:
• Expedition costs
• Travel and flights
• Guides and climbing support
• Equipment and preparation
Helping me take on this challenge and reach the summit.
Any support big or small genuinely means the world to me.
Sponsorship Opportunities
As well as individual donations, I’m also offering sponsorship opportunities for businesses or individuals who would like to support this challenge in a bigger way.
For those who would like to sponsor the journey, I have created sponsorship packages which can include:
• Social media shoutouts across my running and challenge platforms
• Your logo featured on challenge content and posts and clothing
• Mentions in videos and updates from the journey
• Opportunities for collaboration around the challenge
• Recognition as a supporter of the Kilimanjaro expedition
If you are a business or individual interested in sponsoring the challenge, please feel free to get in touch with me directly and I’d be happy to share more information about the sponsorship packages available.
Your support will help make this expedition possible while also helping raise awareness for mental health and the incredible work of Birmingham Mind.
Thank you
Thank you for being part of this journey.
This climb will be one of the toughest things I’ve ever done, but it will also be one of the most meaningful.
Matt.
