Hi, my name is Shona Tretiak. My husband is Matt; he has been an educator for the past 30 years. He had to retire early at the age of 60 due to health issues. He has multiple issues to deal with - being diagnosed with a liver disease, then cancer, last but not least his kidneys are not functioning at a safe level. He is currently undergoing dialysis due to his liver not filtering out all the toxins in his body. The doctors have decided that since the cancer has been stable that if he gets approved by the transplant team that he may be eligible for a liver transplant. The transplant team in Edmonton want to make sure that his cancer is not active so in order for them to approve putting Matt on the transplant list he has to go to edmonton for a battery of tests which will be for up to 2 weeks. These tests will help to either approve or deny being put on the list. Any help you can give us would be truly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
