Matt's Colon Cancer Treatment

Hello all, my name is Maddy Kephart, and I am Matt Kephart’s daughter, living in Eau Claire, WI where I work as an Emergency Nurse. My brother Cole is currently overseas on deployment as a United States Marine. My parents live in White Bear Lake, MN in the home we grew up in. Together, we are fundraising for my dad's Colon Cancer Treatment and living expenses while he is out of work to receive treatment. On May 5th, my dad received the news, after many different doctors’ visits for ongoing and worsening GI concerns—that went about how most encounters go. The classic ‘there’s something, but we need to do further testing’. That testing came and went, and, on May 16th, he and Mom received the official diagnosis together, Colon Cancer.

Those six letters: CANCER.

The pace then picked up with more appointments, scans, and tests. Thankfully, Dad’s oncologist through all of this is just as much of a smart-ass as he is and is guiding Dad and Mom through this with grace, dignity, and humor. He is hopeful and gave him the best prognosis for metastatic colon cancer there can be.

The coming months will include surgeries and treatments to ease his symptoms. He will begin chemotherapy as soon as he heals from a colostomy procedure. And deal with the small, secondary tumors on his liver.

Despite the major pain in the ass (pun intended), Dad has a great outlook on the situation. He will be off work for the foreseeable future, and Mom will be his full-time caregiver to prioritize healing and undergo his treatment.

In the meantime, I ask for your support—any dollar amount, meal, well-wish, or prayer helps. The news has shocked the whole family and I want to help minimize the financial burden Dad’s diagnosis will surely cause. We are infinitely blessed to already have a plethora of support and love behind us as we pray for the best possible outcome.
