Matts Cancer treatment fundraiser

I was hoping that I'd never have a reason to start a GoFundMe Campaign but my best friend is in need of some help and I'm hopeful that our community will rally together to support him.

As some of you may have known, my great friend Matt Gregory, was diagnosed with esophageal cancer just under a year ago. He has spent the past few months undergoing traditional treatment, which has included radiation, chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Unfortunately, traditional treatments have not had the impact we had all been hoping for and the cancer has now spread to his lungs and liver. Never one to backdown from a fight (especially on the hockey rink), Matt is now seeking out alternative forms of treatment in hopes that he can gain some ground in the fight we all very much want him to win.

Unfortunately, alternative treatment comes at a hefty cost. A full course of treatment at the treatment centre in Mexico Matt is hoping to attend will cost between $60,000 - $70,000 USD, which is a huge financial burden for any family but comes as a particular blow after the last year that Matt and his family have had. Over the last year while Matt has been in treatment, he has been entirely unable to work and his beautiful wife, Jenn, has had to cut her workload in half to be by his side for all his hospital visits and doctors appointments.

For those of you who know Matt and Jenn, you know they are both too hard-working, proud (and stubborn) to ever ask for financial help but, in order for Matt to seek out the treatment that he needs they sure could use it!

Matt and Jenn are well-known in our community as a fun-loving couple who light up a room (and a good party) with their positive energy and who would drop anything to help someone in need. So now is our chance to return the favour. Matt is in good spirits and has a great mindset while he is going through the fight of his life. I'm just hoping that we can come together to help with the financial burden so he and Jenn can focus less on making ends meat and more on getting the treatment that Matt needs.
