Matt’s Army: A Combat Veterans Fight With Cancer

We are Tori Bockey and Amanda Todd. We are good friends with Matt and Megan Roll, along with their family and children. We are creating this go fund me to help them with lost wages and medical expenses throughout Matt’s cancer journey. They are a wonderful couple and great family. Let us tell you a bit of their story:

Matt is a combat Army Veteran having served 7 years in the United States Army and during his time in the army he served two combat tours in Afghanistan. Along with developing service related PTSD from his two tours, they have also tied his newly diagnosed cancer to burn pit and chemical toxin exposure.

Matt was diagnosed with high risk stage 2 multiple myeloma on February 25, 2025. After 4 cycles (3 months) of DVRd chemotherapy treatment they have moved onto the process of preparing for an autologous stem cell transplant. Multiple Myeloma is an incurable cancer but with treatment, this stem cell process and maintenance chemo therapy will potentially put the cancer in a long term remission. The stem cell transplant is a dangerous procedure requiring 2 days worth of testing to ensure Matt’s body can handle the treatment itself, a three week hospital stay to receive an intense chemotherapy and to be given back his own stem cells to produce normal and healthy ones. Also a 90 day recovery period where Matt will not be able to work. His testing is scheduled to start June 10th at a VA hospital in Indianapolis, IN and in the following weeks after that he will be admitted to The OSU Wexner Medical Center for the stem cell transplant.

Much of this will put a huge financial burden on them and their family as Matt is the sole provider and will need to take off work for a minimum of 15 weeks for the stem cell transplant. Any donations made will help tremendously to relieve financial burdens and help to cover monthly expenses, medical bills and traveling expenses through these next few months
