Matti's Medical Fund

On August 2nd, 2021, our dear mom, Matti Stevenson, was in a horrific, life altering and near fatal car accident. Matti was hit head on by another vehicle who crossed over multiple lanes at high speed above the limit. She is ALIVE and not paralyzed which is truly a miracle. Her spinal injury is quite severe but by God's grace, the spinal cord was not severed and she was not left paralyzed. She has a severe concussion and fractures on the following: Spinal (C6-7; spinal cord was nearly severed), left clavicle and humerus, right wrist, four rib fractures and her sternum, right knee, a fractured pelvis, and a compound fracture of her right ankle. Her spinal fusion was considered life saving and was performed almost immediately; that was the most concerning and we are rejoicing in its success. Her left clavicle and left humerus were successfully operated on; now the right ankle and right leg are still in need of surgery. Her right wrist will need a specialized team of surgeons so we are still anxiously waiting for that surgery. Mom is in a lot of pain and discomfort but the team at Anschutz are doing a great job and we are thankful that she is in the best possible care.

We are so very touched by the support of our community of neighbors, friends, and family who have reached out asking how they can help. As our mom has a deep faith in God, we would appreciate your continued prayers. She has a long and very strenuous journey ahead of her on this path to recovery. This accident is life altering; we are not sure when, if at all, mom will be able to resume life as she knew it. Her wrist injury is severe and will prevent her from working for the foreseeable future. Her right wrist is fractured in several areas and there is nerve damage. Since Matti is a small business owner, running a one woman PR operation, this injury will severely impact her ability to work and provide for herself. For this reason, we are asking our loving community to donate and help her in the form of a financial gift since she will be out of work for a long time and there will be many medical bills.
