This year we embarked on an exciting new collaboration with composer Bryan Senti. I first met Bryan a decade ago and I have always been struck by his work: cinematic in nature and employing a range of sound from his background as a classical violinist and pianist to more contemporary, electronic forms. Together we are creating "The Letters Project," an evening length contemporary dance work that looks at identity and family and personal relationships.
The new work will be presented during the MWC NYC season this November 9—12 at the Hudson Guild Theatre in Manhattan for four performances. Also on the program will be two other Company repertory works as well as guest youth performers from Covenant Ballet Theatre (Brooklyn) and Rivertown Dance Academy (Tarrytown, NY), both pre-professional training programs where I am on faculty. I especially wanted my students to be have the opportunity to perform in a professional setting and work alongside the MWC dancers.
We are raising funds to cover all of the production costs for the season – rental of the theatre, fees for the dancers, composer/musicians, lighting designer, costume, marketing materials, insurance… the list is endless! Your help will bring this project to life in rehearsal and on stage. We are already hard at work in rehearsal and we look forward to sharing this season with you soon – make a donation today to have an immediate impact on the work.
