Support Matt Strickland's Celebration of Life

Dear Friends and Family,
My brother, Matt Strickland, is going through a particularly difficult time in his life. After being diagnosed with liver cirrhosis in late April, he ran into a major medical issue that resulted in kidney failure and led him to the Intensive Care Unit at Medical University South Carolina Hospital.
Matt has been struggling with addiction throughout his adult life, and sadly that addiction has ultimately led him to what he is going through today. While Matt had officially given up alcohol and begun planning to live a healthier life, his body had other plans. Matt is facing the most challenging aspect of recovery while doctors and nurses work diligently around the clock to get him mentally and physically healthy enough to receive a liver transplant and begin a second lease on life.
Unfortunately, as we all know, these challenges exacerbate themselves further into financial struggles. While Matt does have health insurance that will cover the vast majority of his medical bills, this is a life changing event that will require long term support beyond just the cost of healthcare. As Matt continues to recover, he will be facing an uphill battle with prescription costs, and getting himself back on his feet while he undergoes demanding physical therapy. These are only but a few of the issues my brother will be facing for the foreseeable future.
The goal of this fundraiser is to support Matt and his fiancée as they will have to make significant lifestyle changes to keep up with the demands of an organ transplant.
Any financial support will go to:
- Dietary requirements
- Physical Therapy
- Ongoing support while Matt re-enters the workforce
This has been an incredibly difficult time for Matt, his fiancée Amanda, the Strickland family, and the many friends he has made throughout the years.
This is a significant opportunity for Matt to begin a new life free of addiction and be able to forge a new life together with Amanda so they can get married and eventually move to Amanda's hometown of Pittsburgh. We truly appreciate any contribution you can make to show Matt not only how loved he is, but how the coming together of a community can uplift his spirits and get him through this time. I thank you for taking your time to read through this, and am genuinely appreciative of any amount, no matter how small, you can share.
