Hi our names are Lee and Jan and we’re fundraising for Matthew’s surgery to remove a tumour from the top of his head. The cover photo shows Matthew having his first meal after waking up from his MRI last week. He is just 18 months old and the MRI showed a tumour on his head that is growing and needs to be removed ASAP, according to his specialist, as it will eventually grow into his skull and then his brain. This surgery will cost almost $10,000 AUD and there will be further post operative costs. At this stage Lee and I have covered all the costs for the MRI, XRays, blood tests, accommodation and travel from Lovina to Denpasar, a 4 hour trip each way with a hired car and driver, but are hoping for some help to cover the operation and post operative costs. Matthew’s parents are a young Balinese couple without any assets and an income of just $500 AUD a month. They were trying to save to pay for Matthew’s treatment, but the tumour is growing too quickly, so that will take too long. Matthew’s parents and grandparents have become very good friends of ours and Matthew is so special to us. They are a lovely family and at no stage have they ever asked for help. Matthew’s operation is scheduled for next week on Friday 12th September at Siloam International Hospital Denpasar Bali.
