Hi, I'm Matthew. I was in a car wreck today (worst Christmas ever!) and now I have no way to get around.  Yes, I live in San Francisco, but I don't live or work near enough to Muni for it to be practical for me to live without a vehicle.  I typically put about 250 miles a week on my truck, mostly commuting.

I've heard horror stories about people abusing GoFundMe, and I'm VERY hesitant to do this, but I really have no choice.  I could only afford liability insurance, I have no financial reserves or credit to call on, and I MUST have a vehicle.   I've been through some tough patches over the last few years, but I've never had to beg before now.  I have to get to work!

Here's what your money will go to:

1. A reasonably-priced, 2000-model-year-or-better, small pickup, roughly equivalent to what I had until today (a 1996 Ford Ranger).

2. Registration and emissions testing fees.

3. Towing and disposal of my old vehicle.

4. Unforseen costs, like Uber if I suddenly have to get somewhere in a hurry and can't take Muni.

If I'm lucky enough to make the amount I'm asking for, I promise that you will NOT see me at any non-local bear events for at least a year, you will NOT see me traveling (except to see my mother in AZ, who isn't well), and I will continue to work hard and take all the gigs I can.  If you have any doubts about this, don't donate!  Or ask your friends who know me well - I'm sure they'll vouch for me. I also promise not to make a habit of this.
