Donations for Matthew Pera's family

My name is Nicole and I have created this fund in support of my cherished friend, Matthew Pera's, loving wife and son, Lisa and Gian.

I knew Matt for a short time when they moved to their new home in our neighborhood a few years ago.  We knew quickly that they were a great addition and he was a truly incredible individual.  Matt was an entertainer who welcomed us into his home with open arms and demonstrated positivity, inclusiveness, friendship, and love to everyone.  He sure made us laugh and smile as he did many that crossed paths with him.   One of my most fondest memories of Matt was his "gig" on Halloween nights.  Matt would prepare a five-star chili (with braised pork!) and a delicious sangria.  He would sit on his front porch and wait for us (probably to avoid trick-or-treating) and serve the adults as our children ran wild.  We were all so happy to see him parked on his chair ready to pass out the next chili-filled plastic cup.

Matts sudden passing affected so many lives and has left us all with an indescribable amount of devastation, confusion, and grief.  The past two weeks has been a blur to most who knew him for a lifetime or for those, like me, only briefly. 

I don't know much about fundraising, so this one has been created purely from my heart.   It's purpose is to help heal Matts family by just making life easier (what ever that means).  Give them the energy to just get through the next few months or year with less worry, while they figure out how to find a new normal.  Making this summer seamless for Gian is my ultimate goal.  He's an incredible kid and active little guy who enjoys being with people as much as his dad.   Having the same routine this summer (camps, dinners, vacations...etc) might just give them an extra moment  to heal and for their hearts to grow strong again.   

The celebration of Matt Pera's life and memory is all of our responsibility now, so continue to share your memories with each other below.  Matts love for people was unique and wonderful to be a part of for any length of time.   We should all continue in his honor by spreading joy,  taking care of others, while always being mindful and taking care of ourselves.  I am hoping that our love combined, for Matt and his beautiful family, will be felt for weeks, months and years to come.
