Matthew Westerby Company www.matthewwesterbycompany.org is based in Upper Manhattan, founded in 2009 & becoming a non-profit organization in 2017 with a mission of building community through dance, working in diverse communities in New York City and beyond. MWC creates access to performing arts for all, regardless of age, experience level or the ability to pay. The Company is motivated to create projects that foster community, building works that are accessible to all as participants and audience. Westerby’s choreographic approach is inclusive yet challenging by nature, asking each performer for unique contributions to the process, ensuring the work has the imprint of each participant.

Matthew Westerby Company is presenting its 2023 performance season at the Hudson Guild Theatre in Chelsea. The season will feature the premiere of three new works, including one with music by composer John P. Hastings and his musicians. Along with excerpts of The Piers Project (presented by the High Line in 2022) selected MWC repertory and performances by MWC 2, the Company will host a Youth Dance Platform for over 100 young dancers from across NYC and beyond, coming together to build community and perform for one another.
