Matthew Underwood Memorial

The world unexpectedly lost Matt Underwood on March 22, 2019. Matt was a beloved member of the creative communities in Providence, Rhode Island, and Alfred, New York, where he received his MFA in 2018. We are all mourning the loss of a brilliant artist and caring friend gone far too soon.
The goal of this fundraiser is to cover the costs of Matt's cremation and memorial expenses: space rental, facilitator, catering, and flowers, as well as the cremation itself and a newspaper obituary. Deaths are unfortunately a very expensive time, and Matt had little in the way of savings.
Any funds raised in excess of the cost will be donated in Matt's name to two nonprofits: AS220, the Providence arts hub that envisions a just world where all people can realize their full creative potential; and The Trevor Project, a the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning (LGBTQ) young people under 25.
The memorial service will take place on April 13 at Bell Street Chapel in Providence, Rhode Island (1pm), and is open to anyone who was touched by Matt's kind heart.
