Matthew's Spinal Rehabilitation Fund

On January 7, 2020, at approximately 9:30 PM, Matthew Faria and his families’ lives were turned upside down and marked the beginning of a very long, difficult road; both physically and psychologically.  That night, Matthew was involved in a horrific car accident, where the car he was driving lost control and flipped several times. Matthew; his wife, Krystal and their four children's lives will forever be drastically changed in many perspectives.

 On that dark and rainy night, Matthew; the lone occupant, was taken to hospital with serious injuries to his neck and back. He severed his spinal cord, which required emergency surgery to stabilize 8 vertebral fractures in his spine.  Due to the severity of his spinal cord injury, he will be paralyzed from the chest down. Matthew also sustained many broken ribs and punctured lungs. He has been in ICU since being transported to the hospital that night. 

Throughout this overwhelming ordeal Krystal, Matthew’s wife has worked tirelessly to support Matthew at his ICU bed side, while supporting their 4 children as they process the enormity of their dad’s injuries.  Krystal has met with doctors, nurses and the children’s school staff in order to support both the children and Matthew. However, it is the immense financial burden that will be their greatest hurdle. Matthew had recently started a job in the construction industry in early August and is not eligible to receive benefits. They are also currently living in a 3 storey townhome and will need to find wheelchair suitable accommodations when Matthew is healthy enough to leave the hospital. “Daddy needs to come home ‘cause my heart is breaking,” - Kaily 6.


The motivation for this GoFundMe Page is to help Matthew’s recovery by assisting him during the decades of rehabilitation that lie ahead for him. Funds raised will be put towards medical support, mobility equipment (such as wheelchairs), home modifications & vehicle modifications to enable Matthew to live his most fulfilling life.
