Matthew Medical Recovery

Hello, 

Myself, Robert along with my wife Jacqui, are setting up a go fund me page to help support the financial cost incurred by surgery, recovery and legal action for our son Matthew. 

Matthew is a 35yr old father and in recent years was diagnosed with Silicosis. Silicosis is a long-term lung disease caused by excessive inhalation of silica dust which is irreversible yet manageable with proper care. This diagnosis placed Matthew in a difficult working situation which saw him change his employment 4 times within a year to avoid air pollution and to cater for access to expensive specialist treatment.

In the beginning the drastic lifestyle changes and travelling for treatment was paying off as his lungs had become healthy enough for him to lead a partially regular life. Unfortunately, this was short lived as he contracted a flesh eating bug that has torn his world apart. From here Matthew has experienced blood clots, repeated minor strokes, cysts found in his brain and therefore rendering him unable to heal without extreme professional assistance.

The emotional toll this journey has had on all of our family is harrowing let alone now the financial battle leaving us as parents and Matthew bankrupt. We would do anything for our son and will never give up but with a lawsuit that was originally won and still yet to be paid, we have run our savings dry. 

With this page we hope that people are made aware of this disease and may be willing to lend a hand in donating to our sons future so he can eventually get to a healthy  stage and can lead a long successful future with all those who love him.
