Hello everyone,

I am reaching out to you today with a heavy heart and a plea for your help. My name is Matthew Kioko and I have dedicated over 10 years serving the US Federal Government. My journey began in 1988 when I left Kenya and arrived in the United States with a dream and admission to the University of Texas. Through sheer determination and hard work, I not only earned my degree but also found love. In 2000, I married my wife and together we built a loving family. My dedication to providing for my wife and my two daughters knows no bounds.

This year, life took an unexpected turn. It started with severe lower back and lower abdomen pain. I was misdiagnosed with three different cancers in early July. At the end of August, we received the devastating news that I have metastatic stage IV bladder cancer that has spread to the liver and lungs.

Doctors tell me my cancer is very rare and aggressive, which is why it took so long to be diagnosed. During this journey, I have been in constant pain causing me to consistently visit the ER and have 5 hospital admissions. My longest admission was over 20 days. I am currently admitted to the ICU. My wife, a dedicated professional, made the selfless decision to step away from her job to become my full-time caregiver. My family has been grappling with the emotional and financial burdens that come with a cancer diagnosis.

After spending a month in the hospital, I began my brave fight against this disease with chemotherapy. I continue to have an unwavering spirit and am determined to fight this every day. We are hopeful for my recovery, but the mounting medical bills and expenses have placed a significant strain on my family.

This is why I am reaching out to you, my dear family, friends, colleagues, and kind-hearted individuals. I am humbly asking for your support and prayers. Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference in my journey towards healing.
