For everyone and any one who has met Matthew knows that he is a joy, a blessing, an all around amazing human being, and to a lot of people, a candle burning bright in the darkness. Unfortunately, it is with a heavy pained heart that I say Matthew's "light" is burning out.
This past couple of months has been a long and rough journey for Matthew and family. Matthew was admitted into the hospital a month ago. During his stay, the Doctors found fluid building up around his brain, causing pressure on the brain. Matthew had an emergency procedure done to help drain the fluid, but the Doctors said he would have to have a high risk invasive brain surgery to put in a shunt to drain the fluids.
After long and hard consideration on the family's part, we have decided that Matthew has been through enough already and to transition Matthew into comfort care instead of putting him through more trauma and difficulties.
Matthew is an amazing person who has overcome many obstacles and adversities, exceeded expectations, and through it all brought joy and happiness to many.
As the family prepares for this heavy loss and say our good byes, we are asking for support from all those who know and love Matthew.
