Matthew Greenlee Medical

Matthew Greenlee suffered a traumatic head injury in a freak accident while working on a mountain bike on Tuesday. Matthews happy place while in college was the bike shop where he worked. His co-workers became his family away from home and Jeff and Lianne grew to love them as well. Matthew was taken to Flagstaff Memorial Hospital where they immediately cared for him. He was never without friends by his side, as the Greenlee family made their way to Flagstaff. Thursday it was determined that Matthew needed to be moved to another hospital where they could better assess the damage to his eye and his brain. He was moved to Banner Medical in Phoenix. Jeff and Lianne were given the devastating news that there was no brain activity. Matthew paced peacefully in the early morning hours of Saturday, surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Matthew's love for his family was something to be admired. The Greenlees instilled early in his life, the love of God, family and the outdoors. Matthew was consecrated to Our Mother Mary, and we are sure that she greeted him warmly into Heaven.

Matthew had a passion for mountain biking. He loved snowboarding and was an active member at the Newman Center. He had an amazing group of friends at home and college and loved their trips to Sedona and everything outdoors.

No parent should ever have to bury a child. The Greenlees know this better than anyone. Matthew needs to be transported home, and eventually to his final resting place. As a community, donations are being accepted to help offset the unexpected hospital stay, transportation costs and now a funeral. Should there be any additional funds that are not needed for Matthew's funeral and medical expenses, the Greenlees will be exploring options to honor Matthew and the life he led. The Greenlees appreciate all the prayers, love and unity that has been showered upon them this week. They are overwhelmed and so appreciative of any support you can provide.
