I hope my words adequately describe my father Matthew Dinan. He was a great husband, father, and grandfather. He was a strong man that started his battle with heart problems in 2001. Where he had his first major heart attack they had to hit him 5 times with a defibrillator to bring him back. To keep him alive they put in a pacemaker but despite his new diagnosis he never stopped doing what he loved like riding his Harley. Shortly two years later in 2003 he met my mother. They fell in love which saved her from her abusive husband. He showed her what it meant to be loved and what it meant to be cared for. And he realized that she would also have his back on the bike and in life. That was the same year I had my youngest daughter. My oldest was only 2 and half due to the fact they were so young he effortlessly became the girls and later my son’s grandfather and to me my father. In 2012 dad’s defibrillator went off several times within minutes of each other. When it fires it leaves behind scars which constricts the ability for his heart to beat. So the doctor’s had to go in and remove the scar tissue. Despite this within a couple weeks he was back on his bike. Through all this he still took in my 3 kids when my husband had abandoned us and I was hospitalized. Then later took care of me when I was recovering at home. Sadly as he grew older his condition slowly took over and the medicine he was on for his heart made it so he could no longer ride. One of the things he loved doing most. He had once said to me once you ride a Harley you become part of a community. So that is who I am calling on to help. The ones who rode with him in the wind help us give this kind strong man a service he deserves.
