TOLEDO – Matthew C Mosier, age 47, died November 3, 2022.

Matthew Cory Mosier, Holland, Ohio, passed peacefully late on Thursday, November 3, 2022, in the presence of his family in Toledo, Ohio.

Matthew was born on November 18, 1974, to Mr. Bruce (Sue) Mosier and Ms. Elizabeth Mosier in Bryan, Ohio. He was raised in Defiance, Ohio, and graduated from Tinora High School in 1993. He collected friendships around 3 states while living and working in Defiance and Toledo, Ohio; Overland Park, Kansas; and Lake Orion, Michigan.

In 1992, he met Ms. Amanda Emerling Clellan, Defiance, Ohio, and had a daughter, Alyssa Mosier, Defiance, Ohio, and later, a grandson, Brayden. In 2006 he married Ms. Christi Mosier and had a son, Cole Mosier, and two daughters, Makenzie and Brooklyn Mosier, in Holland, Ohio. In recent years, he’s enjoyed time with his significant other Ms. Malinda Smith, in Defiance, Ohio.

The father of 4, he worked hard all his life, earning the admiration of his children and those around him, for the time and care he devoted to their happiness and wellbeing. He inspired us to live a good and honest life, teaching us to be kind to those we meet. He had a strong sense of humor and loved to laugh. We’ll forever see his eyes sparkle, full of the joy of family, and of life. His greatest love was his children, and he shared with them, so much of the other loves of his life. He was very passionate about OSU football, NY Yankees, Harley Davidson, and Springfield sports (kids). He filled his time playing volleyball, kickball, and tennis baseball with the kids. He was always surrounded by friends. Everyone liked him. He was the life of the party. The funny guy. The guy who had the bobcat. The guy who would be anywhere and do anything for his family and friends. He loved motorcycle rides, playing blackjack and poker, watching Adam Sandler movies, and going to hard rock concerts (Korn was his favorite.). He loved Diet Mountain Dew, Kroger’s cotton candy ice cream, mashed potatoes, BW3 wings, ham & pineapple pizza, and cheesecake. He hated the Olive Garden and mustard (not together).

Most notably, Matthew was a fighter. In 2020 he was diagnosed with glioblastoma brain cancer. He fought this horrific disease with anything and everything he could try. He subjected himself to radiation, chemotherapy, 2 brain surgeries, and multiple other clinical trials along the way to extend the time he had with his kids. His last gift to the world was the donation of his brain and spine to the Harvard Brain Tissue Resource Center at McLean Hospital in Belmont, MA. He viewed it as an opportunity to do something good out of something really bad. If he could help one person avoid this disease, he was glad to do it.

Matthew is survived by a host of loving family and friends. His children and grandson. His parents. His sister Ms. Jennifer (Scott) Tyrrell, Highland, Michigan, and nieces and a nephew.

He is preceded in death by both of his grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. Carl (Dorothy) Mosier, Bryan, Ohio, and Mr. and Mrs. Chester (Julia) Hart, Sherwood, Ohio.

For all of those he loved and touched deeply, we will be celebrating his life at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Gofundme.com to assist with cremation and setting up a fund for his children’s future.
