Matt Whaley and his Family

Matt Whaley is a dedicated husband, father, and physical therapist who is respected by colleagues, adored by patients, and appreciated by members of the Eastern Shore community. He is incredibly passionate about providing exceptional patient care in his many roles as an outpatient physical therapist with Shore Therapy Solutions in Berlin, MD, and as an inpatient rehabilitation physical therapist at Encompass in Salisbury, MD. In addition to his contributions to the healthcare community, Matt also serves as a referee for local high school and club soccer teams in the area. He was scheduled to referee his first college game in the upcoming weeks.

On Monday, September 12, 2022, Matt was walking with a patient, assisting him in improving his strength, balance, and endurance so he could return to work. While walking with his patient, Matt was tragically hit by a distracted driver. Being on the appropriate side while walking with his patient, he spared his patient from harm, but he sustained multiple injuries himself. He will require further surgeries, as well as inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation. His road to recovery will be lengthy.

Given that Matt is currently unable to work and contribute to his growing household, we are asking for the community to come together and assist his family during this unforeseen time of need. He has always provided great care to those in his company and put his family, patients, and colleagues first. Now it is our turn as a community to care for him.

Funds will go towards Matt and his family and provide support to the patient who was significantly impacted by this trauma.
